The Secret To A Perfect Nude Lip!

It’s a whole lot of back and forth. A nice balance of a lip liner that’s around four shades darker than your skin tone, a lip color (lipstick, concealer, tinted lip balm, ect.) that’s lighter than the liner, lipgloss is optional… But if you throw on a lipstick and the shade just isn’t sitting right and you don’t want to start over, a gloss that’s somewhere in between those colors or a darker neutral always saves the day.

At the end of the day it’s the lip liner that makes or breaks the finished look, that’s the secret. I recommend finding a go-to color that you can you depend on to work well with a variety of shade ranges. Currently my daily lip liner is ‘Total Baller’ from NYX, it’s more on the warm side but my nude preference usually falls on that end of the color spectrum. I used to recommend ‘Cork’ or ‘Chestnut’ from Mac for some pretty universal lip liners, to me they are very neutral darker brown colors that can be depended on to get the job done.

Liner is a pretty essential step in creating a beautiful nude lip, it’s hard to find a lipstick that you can just slap on and go. Just about any lipstick can be adjusted to your skin tone with a proper liner! Finding a few staple colors to keep in your arsenal can open up possibilities to a wide range of lipstick shades you may have thought you couldn’t pull off before.

*Not to be weird….Have you ever heard the tip about the perfect lip liner shade is the same color as your areola/nipple??? Lol real talk… it usually works. And it will let you know if the color you choose should be more on the warmer or cooler side for your skin tone!
